For 2023, we have options for Massachusetts teachers to participate in the KidWind Offshore Wind Academy.

On-line Intensive: Join us for a 2-day intensive in April learning about offshore wind technology and KidWind materials and curriculum. This option includes having you join on the field trips to the Wind Technology Blade Testing Facility in Boston in late July and any additional field trips we offer. If you wish to obtain the free graduate credit for this option, you will also be required to write up a KidWind lesson plan and a reflection. You will be eligible for a stipend to participate in this option.

In-person in July: Join us at Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the program where the students will be learning about offshore wind and exploring KidWind materials and going on field trips. There is a residential or day participant option.

KidWind RECharge Academy: Join teachers from other states in Atlantic City, NJ for a 4 day intensive teacher training focusing on KidWind materials and curriculum.

As a teacher you will get:

  • One graduate-level credit from the University of Delaware.
  • KidWind kit and supporting materials for you to teach about wind in your school.
  • Stipend for program participation
  • Transportation stipend to cover round trip costs to get to and from MMA

Our program builds off of KidWind, a hands-on program that gets students and teachers excited about renewable resources. It increases exposure to science, technology, engineering and math, including robotics and microprocessors in an exciting way that easily covers many elements of the curriculum frameworks. KidWind is great for all grade levels and supports the importance of imagine-design-test-redesign to build a device that succeeds.

If you have any trouble with the form, please reach out to us at kidwindacademy@reliance.org as we are experiencing intermittent issues with the registration portal. Thanks!
